Weekend weather - flag indicates wind speed |
We docked at Olverson’s Marina in Lottsburg VA for the
weekend – it was a rainy, soggy, productive, happy and “Friendliest Marina on
the Bay” kind of weekend! Mr. Olverson
was so hospitable, full of local knowledge and willing to do whatever possible
to make our stay exceptional!! He
succeeded!!

Keepin' it real at Olverson's |
If you are considering a
trip up or down the Potomac River, Olverson’s Marina is a MUST STOP!!
Competitive fuel prices, very effective pump out, easy approach & tie up, CLEAN
laundry facilities, courtesy car, ACE hardware within 5 miles AND MTOA member special
rate! What more can be said?!?! A perfect way to spend a rainy or sunny
weekend!
Sunday 5/14/2017, leaving Olverson's - beautiful |
After four days of rain, clouds and wind, we woke Sunday
morning to SUNSHINE!!! YAY!! Happy
Mother’s Day and welcomed sunshine – a great combination! We filled up with fuel and pumped out, said
our good-byes and left the dock at 9:45am.

We are the blue dot - anchored at Fairview Beach |
We didn’t have a set destination but that didn’t matter – the Potomac
River offers several anchorages. We had
such a good travel day (weather, traffic, etc) we pushed a little longer than
normal…5:30!!! We set the anchor, the wind
picked up and we were bobbing like a cork in water – as the sun dropped the
wind decreased and we soon saw smooth water!
Thank you Lord!
The Maryland coastline-Potomac River is the "line" between Virginia & Maryland |
Monday we hope to snag a slip in Quantico VA and tour the
area. If we can’t get a slip (there are
only 2), we will anchor and dinghy to shore (wind/weather permitting). It won’t be long and we will see Mt. Vernon
from the water!! Can’t wait!!
As your week starts – make it a GREAT one!! And remember…the
journey is often much more exciting than the destination!
God Bless!
