Bye, Bye Big Apple

The Lower Place-up close & personal with the Lady Liberty
And hello Small Town USA!!!  YAY!!!  We, Moon Shadow, Sanctuary, Enterprise, Southern Cross and The Lower Place departed New York City Friday morning under somewhat cloudy skies. Our goal was to reach Lady Liberty and have a photo session!  Yes we did, right there in the harbor – each boat cruised in front of the Statue while the rest of us took pictures.  Did I mention we were also dodging Ferry Boats, Tour Boats, Sailboats AND we were in New York Harbor???  Yes, it was a challenge but what a thrill!!
Ellis Island - a new beginning for many, many people
We docked at Half Moon Bay in Croton-on-Hudson, NY Friday evening. And Saturday morning Southern Cross and The Lower Place departed for a north bound cruise on the Hudson River.  Our other cruising group stayed at the marina with more land-based & family visits planned.  I'll let the pictures do the talking...
Soon the contemporary architecture of the city...
...gives way to the lush green of the River Banks
"The Stacks" in Yonkers NY
West Point Military Academy...
...and the CIA!! (Culinary Institute of America)
Sailboats...
...and BIG BOATS
All this - and no boat dock, hmmmm
Saturday evening we are anchored (YAY!!) in the Hudson River (outside the channel of course) in Ewen NY.  We will be here until Monday catching up on some boat cleaning/organizing/planning.  Monday we will head toward a marina for land-based responsibilities…laundry, grocery, etc.  as we prepare for our foreign excursion to Canada – our second out-of-country experience this year!!

Not a bad neighborhood to spend a couple days
I can't wait for sunset or sunrise!!

God Bless!!
